James “Chris” C. Hudson is a senior associate attorney at Beckham Portela who has been practicing complex commercial litigation for more than thirty years. Before joining Beckham Portela, Chris was the sole shareholder and President of Chris C. Hudson, P.C., a private litigation and transactional law firm, where he represented clients in state and federal courts for twenty-eight years, acquiring diverse experience in commercial litigation, mergers and acquisitions, real estate, oil and gas, employment, trusts and estates matters. 

Chris earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a major in finance and a minor in international business, from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin in 1984. He earned his Juris Doctorate at Baylor University School of Law in 1989.

Chris is a long-time resident of Dallas, Texas and he has one daughter, Claire Hudson. Chris’s hobbies primarily involve hunting and fishing. He is active in many conservation organizations, including being a life member of the Dallas Safari Club, Safari Club International, Texas Bighorn Society, National Rifle Association, and being a regular member of the Pope & Young Club, Congressional Sportsman’s Foundation, and the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation.

Former Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke appointed Chris to the International Wildlife Conservation Council, a Federal Advisory Committee Act council where Chris was Policy Chairman. Chris also serves as General Counsel to Four Starr Energy, Inc., a privately held exploration and production company actively engaged in developmental drilling, mineral leasing, and production acquisitions in conventional and unconventional oil and gas plays throughout Texas, New Mexico, Utah and South Dakota. For five years, he was Chairman and CEO of Technical People Incorporated, Inc., an international provider of temporary computer professionals, network architecture, and security services to Fortune 500 companies. Chris continues to be an owner and manager of Paseo de la Resaca, where his team managed proof of concept through financing, development, and the sale of a 1,000 acre master-planned community of residential and mixed use commercial development. Chris’s ownership and management role in Temple Fork Outfitters Fly Rods allows him to go fly fishing when not practicing law.
