Patrick joined the firm full time in 2016. Currently, Patrick’s practice at Beckham Portela is primarily devoted to his role as special litigation counsel for Texans Against High-Speed Rail, the consolidated opposition group fighting against the proposed Dallas to Houston high-speed rail project. Patrick also represents hundreds of landowners along the affected corridor. As part of his work fighting the high-speed rail project, Patrick has testified before multiple committees during the past three legislative sessions at the Texas Capitol. He has also made several trips to Washington D.C. and the White House to meet with federal agency representatives, Congressman, Senators, and White House staff.
Patrick has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of commercial cases. He has considerable experience in all phases of litigation from investigation through trial and appeal. Patrick has represented clients in cases involving legal malpractice, deceptive trade practices, trademark infringement and unfair competition, negligence, landowners’ rights, breach of contract, fraud, defamation, breach of fiduciary duty, conversion, will contests, and violations of various consumer protection laws.
Patrick is a native of Dallas. Patrick earned his Juris Doctorate in 2004 from the Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. He has been selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine for Excellence in Practice multiple years. Patrick is a member of American MENSA, the Dallas Bar Association, and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers.
