Josephine “Josie” Lopez is an associate at Beckham Portela who focuses her practice primarily in complex civil business litigation. Josie currently handles matters for our clients involving contract disputes, real property disputes, and employment related disputes including navigating the Texas Workforce Commission. She has extensive experience in the discovery phase of litigation, including conducting written discovery, attending depositions, researching complex legal issues, and drafting pleadings and dispositive motions.
Josie received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas and was a first-generation college graduate. After graduating, Josie attended law school at South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas. During her law school career, she served as the Pro Bono Ambassador on the Hispanic Law Students Association and was a recipient of the Hispanic Law Students Association 3L Scholarship.
Prior to joining Beckham Portela, Josie gained valuable legal experience working at a personal injury law firm on the plaintiff’s side where she advocated for clients in all personal injury matters, including car accidents, company vehicle accidents, commercial trucking accidents, and premises liability.
In her free time, Josie enjoys spending time with her husband, Jon, and their two cats, Milo and Bluey.
